Master of Technology Education (Options-Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering)

TITLE OF THE PROGRAMME

The programme shall have the following options:

  1. Master of Technology Education (Electrical Engineering Technology)
  2. Master of Technology Education (Mechanical Engineering Technology)
  3. Master of Technology Education (Building & Construction Engineering Technology)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAMME

The common regulations for admission requirements in all master’s degrees programmes of Murang’a University of Technology shall apply.   In addition to the above, an applicant shall be a holder of a relevant bachelor’s degree of Murang’a University of Technology or its equivalent from any university recognized by Murang’a University of Technology Senate and Commission for University Education (CUE). The applicant must have attained at least second class upper division or, second class lower division with two years work experience.

DURATION OF STUDY

This is a two (2) year programme with the first year focusing on coursework. The remaining one (1) year, the learner shall embark on research and thesis writing.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the programme the learner should be able to:

  1. Conduct research in technology education.
  2. Critique contemporary issues in technology education
  3. Analyze technology education theories and practices.
  4. Prepare and present term papers
  5. Analyze literature in technology education

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

A student shall be required to:

  • Attend at least 2/3 of lectures to be allowed to sit for end of semester examinations
  • Conduct research and make presentations in seminars
  • Write and publish at least one (1) research paper in a peer reviewed journal before submitting research report
  • Present a research report to a panel as per the Board of Post-graduate and Research regulations

  • Examine learners

GRADING SYSTEM

The marks earned by a student in respective courses including research and thesis shall be graded as follows

The Pass Mark for each course unit shall be 50%

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A candidate shall graduate with an M.TEd. InTechnology Education after satisfying the following:

  1. Passed all core and required courses
  2. Submit to the School copies of one (1) published research paper in a refereed journals
  3. Submit bound copy of thesis to the: School (1 copy), Directorate of Post-Graduate Studies (1 copy), Library (1 copy), Chair of Department (3 copies)
  4. Cleared with any other relevant University department including finance and library.
